Seasons 7/15/98
Up late sending my new friend Kim an email discussing which seasons were our favorites, I read her description of Autumn and the imagery inspired me. I ended up spending a couple of hours on it and liked the result.
The springtime is when green appears.
The world dries up its winter tears.
Exuberance is all around;
fresh breezes of warm air abound.

Ah, spring, the season of new love!
Around the maypole high above,
we weave our ribbons one by one
with happy thoughts in the bright sun.

With Spring's end comes the summer heat;
The soft grass feels good to bare feet.
Relaxing in the quiet shade.
as gentle thoughts appear and fade.

Some ice cubes ring against a glass;
a lazy day begins to pass.
The children swim and fly their kites;
a cooling evening breeze delights.

The summer dwindles into fall,
and evenings chill with winter's call.
The pumpkins, corn, and apples sweet
turn ripe enough for us to eat.

The trees explode with colors bright
to give us all a joyous sight,
and at the time of Halloween,
such costumes are there to be seen!

One chilly day the autumn's done
and the first winter snow's begun.
The skiiers smile their snowy hopes
with thoughts of schussing downhill slopes.

We walk around in our warm coats,
sing yuletide songs in graceful notes,
and drink hot chocolate by the fire,
as white snow piles up ever higher.

The seasons four are a great gift;
one to another they all drift
as time goes on from young to old
and summer's heat to winter's cold.

The cycle of eternity,
the seasons' simple mystery,
bring constant change into the year;
each season has its special cheer.
