Up late thinking about a friend having a hard time, I pondered
on the nature of the inner child for those of us who have had
difficult childhoods, and the strange multifaceted and dark
shells we form around our inner child to protect it.
This was the result, which mostly came out as is. There is
music to it, mostly an E/A/G/E power chord progression.
Little girl wandering so far from home.
Lonely girl thinks she must endlessly roam.
Helpless girl lost in a cold and dark wood.
Frightened girl badly wants just to be good.
(Chorus:)
She's the lost little girl that fades away.
She's the vengeant bitch at the end of the day.
She's desire incarnate dressed in black.
She's the stabbing pain from the knife in your back.
Little girl crying out in the night.
Vampiress waiting to take a big bite.
Beautiful siren that can't be denied;
nowhere to run and there's nowhere to hide.
(musical interlude)
Black diamond...Black diamond...
Black diamond...Black diamond...
Innocent girl who swims in the dark.
Scorpion sting never misses its mark.
Sensual goddess brings men to their knees;
She's so much more than the naked eye sees.
(Chorus 2:)
She's the memory that won't fade away.
She's the soothing touch at the end of the day.
She's profound repentance dressed in black.
She's the dazzling thrill of fear down your back.
(Repeat of first verse, fading:)
Little girl wandering so far from home.
Lonely girl thinks she must endlessly roam.
Helpless girl lost in a cold and dark wood.
Frightened girl badly wants just to be good.
Black diamond...Black diamond...
Black diamond...Black diamond...
